bismillah.
today, i'm going to write about podocytes. the other day, our lecturer mispelled it on his slides to po0docytes. that was funny. hehe. try saying it. sorry for the weird opening sentences, but this is not what the main idea is about.
back to the point, for some of you who might have not taken bio in IB/Alevels/matrics/college, podocytes are the small cells sticking onto the blood vessels in the nephron (kidneys).
i'll show you a picture of it. (courtesy of uncle Google)
although they might look like creepy crawlies or the bad pirate squid guy in Pirates of the Caribbean, i find these guys are quite fetching. don't you think so? and probably our admiration in any creations on this earth should be attributed to Allah. subhanAllah.
research shows that these podocytes actually run along the blood vesels and sits themselves on a spot and then cleanse the blood vessel wall by a mechanism called (i can't remember) let's just call it flushing. basically, underneath the podocytes is the subpodoctes space (SPS). fluid from inside the blood vessel will move out to the SPS then move back into the blood vessel. and that is how the podocytes cleanses the vessel wall, which is very important because our vessel wall in the kidneys are what is used to filter our blood from foreign/toxic stuff. so its important to make sure the filter itself is clean. so after that part is clean, the podocytes will then move to another spot, and do the same thing. does it make sense to you? or maybe i'm just making sense to myself. haha. sorry! -_-;
comel kan Allah's creation? pakcik2 podocytes tiny yg byk berjasa. subhanAllah. and the same goes to our hearts. it's important for us to cleanse it from time to time. if our heart is what we use to filter the right from wrong, it definitely has to be kept clean. from dosa, from disease (penyakit hati..hehe), and make it sparkling clean insyaAllah.
let's start our spring cleaning iAllah! ;D

(Verily, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, and the ships which sail through the sea with that which is of use to mankind, and the water which Allah sends down from the sky and makes the earth alive therewith after its death, and the moving creatures of all kinds that He has spread therein, and in the veering of winds and clouds which are held between the sky and the earth, are indeed signs for people of understanding.)
